Ficci is a system through which a set of sustainable furniture is created.
The concept offers users the opportunity to implement thoughtful circular strategies as an alternative to the harmful fast furniture industry. Reuse, exchange, and repair of parts play a significant role in this system. Ficci is built from a versatile building block that serves as a solid foundation for any design. This building block can be combined with various attachments that determine the function of the furniture. This way, you can effortlessly change styles, replace damaged parts, and allow your furniture to grow with the spaces in your (future) homes.
FICCI
This building block is a wooden component in the shape of an L. It can be used as a leg of a chair, bench, or stool that forms the basis of a design. But it can also be used as a chair backrest when turned upside down. This way, the entire supporting structure of a design is created with just one component.
This building block is held together by a metal connector, minimizing the need for bolts and screws to assemble a design. For example, a stool is assembled with just 1 bolt. This newly designed system offers users flexibility to easily repair or replace damaged parts, or to let their furniture adapt to their living situations. Chairs can be transformed into sofas or stools, so when people want to change their furniture, they can reuse their parts.
Furthermore, once these building blocks are assembled, they can be combined with different types of seats and backrests that users can obtain through a subscription-based platform. This way, FICCI can easily adapt to trends and offer users a wide range of design styles without them having to buy them. In this way, FICCI seeks to prevent excessive waste in landfills due to rapidly changing trends by utilizing the sharing economy.
